Mia's bday party and gingerbread houses

Here are the promised pictures from Mia's birthday party.  We've been really hitting the birthday party circuit hard lately since most of G's friends are born between late October and early Spring.  It will probably continue until the end of February.  It's really a great time, lots of fun events and hanging out with friends.  So so much pizza and cake.  Anyway, Katie really outdid herself.  She pinterested the crap out of this party with decorations she made, a house that fits over her dining room table perfectly and cupcake decorating (complete with Chef's hat and apron).  So awesome!  I am very impressed and honored to be friends with someone who is so crafty!

We also made gingerbread houses again this year.  We had Mia and Caitlin over and decorated graham cracker gingerbread houses.  I'm pretty sure more candy made it in their mouths than on their houses, but whatever.  It was still fun.  I think the houses turned out great.

Look at these kids mugging for the camera...lol

What Grant says...

So Grant has had some really great one liners recently and I feel that this may be blog worthy information.  Plus at least I'll have it written down to remember when he's older.

At church this week...

"Why is Father Alex wearing a white shirt, I like the green shirt better." - in reference to the priest's robe
"I want to do more "nice to meet yous" - after the peace be with you part
"Good catch" - in reference to the usher missing our envelope with offering and then Grant re-pitching it in.

Here's a few gratuitous pictures.

Spoke too soon...

So on the weather front, I'm pretty sure I jinxed us saying the weather has been great.  It's been uber hot, but oh well.  It is the summer I guess.  We've still managed to get out and about.  Nothing new to report really.  We've been enjoying the farmer's market on Saturday mornings here in Hoboken.  Grant made this super sweet frame there last week since they set up a craft for kids (great idea, right?)

Then in typical toddler fashion he attempted to wear it as a shoe and break it.  Seems about right...

We also rode these cool horse things in front of the candy store in town with Claire.  Neither of them know that if you put money in they actually move, but they just enjoy sitting on them.

And then today we had a fun morning with Uncle Jeff!  He got to witness a park play date with a picnic.  Lucky guy.

Next week we are headed to my mom's to get out of the paint fumes in here.  Getting our place ready for moving has begun!

Park days...

This weather is just the best.  Even though some days are rainy and gross, overall it's not too hot (though I hear that's coming on Thursday), definitely not too cold, but just right.  We've been taking advantage by having lots of park play dates and picnics.  Grant loves himself a good picnic.  He asks for one almost every day, grabbing our blanket from it's spot in the hall.  "Mommy, we have a picnic?" too cute.  I'll try to get a shot of him and his buddies picnicking.  In other news, we are moving!  Hurray no more 5th floor walk up!  We are moving just a few blocks away to a nice elevator building.  Thank goodness.  I am definitely looking forward to not hauling all our stuff up and down the stairs.  I also have a few pictures to share.

G and Caitlin at the Jackson St Park (Grant calls this the "new" park...I guess because we don't go there often, but the playground equipment is new vs the old shabby stuff in Church Square)

Grant and his buddies post lunch in Mia's courtyard.  With special treats (Grape popsicle)

Grant has been having a tough time napping lately, some days he won't sleep at all, other days he's down for 3+ hours.  It's difficult to figure out.  I hear there's some sort of developmental stuff going on a 2 1/2, so I'm going to blame it on that.  This day he didn't nap at all and we headed out to bring our deposit for the new apartment.  We started to walk back to the park (literally a 5 minute walk) and around minute 2 he slouched down and passed out asleep.  He's not a stroller sleeping kind of kid, so this was certainly a surprise.  I guess the tiredness finally caught up with him.  I'm hoping he works this nap thing out soon though, it has been slightly better this week, so fingers crossed.

It's sad that these are really the only pics I have of this week...I'm going to need to do better.

Some new pics...

I'm happy to keep updating this blog if people are reading it.  Just haven't been getting many comments lately so if you guys would rather some kind of flickr act for pictures or something let me know.  We've been up to some fun stuff since um, December.  Here's a quick update in pictures!

We went on vacation to Florida with my mom and Jim.

We went on a "pizza adventure"

We played dress up with friends...

Took the ferry to a new park with Nicole and Elliot!

Colored Easter Eggs.

Played with friends at the park and watched the Fleet Week ships come in!
